rongin shagor / রঙিন সাগর
No video selected.

For Oyoun’s latest artistic intervention rongin shagor – which is Bengali for “the colorful ocean” – we’re looking for multidisciplinary BIPOC* artists and activists to participate in an virtual artistic chain letter. In rongin shagor selected artists and activists from different fields respond to the poem “community” by Afro-German poet May Ayim. The project is investigating the concept of heritage and gets others involved in the discourse of how our history shapes our actions today. May Ayim’s work hereby demonstrates the important malleability of language and its power to both give to and take from marginalized people. We encourage all artists and activists, whose works can be archived digitally (e.g. filmmakers, poets, digital creators, visual artists, musicians, etc.), to participate in the open call. The opportunity aims to provide arts and cultural opportunities to QTBIPoC* artists and activists from around the world through exchange and sharing of artistic skills. It is also possible to apply as a collective. The deadline is 1st August!
