Fifty years ago saw the first release of the portable videosystem. And now that anyone with a smartphone has the ability to record a video today, video art has the feel of the return to the roots of working with animated pictures. To present video arts to a large audience Concordia will host an exhibition this fall. Concordia is a cultural institution in the city of Enschede, The Netherlands, that focuses on presenting art in an approachable way to a wide audience. This is done at two historical buildings in the citycentre of Enschede that host a number of cinemas, a theatre and exhibition spaces. Exhibition of video art Besides hosting works of renowned (international) video artists, Concordia also pledges to show young and ‘fresh’ video art by artists from both The Netherlands as well as from abroad, to which you can contribute. If video arts are your preferred medium and you want your work to be shown to a broad audience, you should take part in this! All autonomous work of art made with animated footage is considered video art. Footage captured on television or computer, i.e. light-sensitive film and digitally recorded or animated pictures are implied within these conditions. Works bordering these conditions of video-arts –on the developments of experimental film- and sound-arts- can also submitted.
