No video selected.

The 1st INTERNATIONAL SCREENDANCE FESTIVAL FREIBURG invites all dance, movement, image and video artists to submit their dance short films until 31st of December 2018 (12.00 p.m.).

Films and videos should not exceed 5 minutes in length and should not be simply documentaries or recordings of a dance piece or live performance. We accept works in the following three categories: 1) National-German-films with 2-minutes length 2) International films with 30-seconds length 3) Films which resonate with the theme Willis – Nature spirits from the Black Forest with a maximum of 5-minutes length. (The theme is inspired by the mythological figure Wilis from the romantic ballet Giselle. A unique and specific view in terms of the interpretation of this theme is appreciated.)

The festival itself will take place from 5.6.2019 - 9.6.2019. It intends to promote works which combine dance and film techniques as well as elements from performace, music, digital media and fine art in the medium of video in a cross-genre work. Its aim is to establish this highly international art form Screendance not only in the city of Freiburg, but also in the triangular region Freiburg-Basel-Mulhouse as well as in Germany and abroad internationally. From each category one film will be awarded the NEWCOMERAS fund, as well as an audience price. The 1st INTERNATIONAL SCREENDANCE FESTIVAL FREIBURG is initiated by the dance department of Theater Freiburg by Dr. Adriana Almeida Pees (head of the dance department and curator) in cooperation with Marisa C. Hayes and Franck Boulègue, two Screendance experts and the founders of the Festival International de Vidéo Danse de Bourgogne. The festival will be realised in partnership together with Kommunales Kino (KoKi) and its directors Rita Baukrowitz and Neriman Bayram.
