It’s LIQUID Group, in collaboration with International ArtExpo, Ca’ Zanardi and VENICE ART HOUSE Gallery, is selecting all interesting video-art works, photography works, paintings, installations and performance art works to include in the next 2016 exhibition in the months between May and November.

The Venice Architecture Academy is an intensive experience that offers different prospective on the whole world of Architecture. The Academy is composed by the VAAD – Venice Art + Architecture Days, with a rich program of talks, workshops and meetings during the opening days of BORDERS festival, and the Summer Architecture Academy, with courses on Architectural main themes, from Interior Design to Urban Planning. The festival focuses on the concept of “borders“, between the soul and the body, the man and the city, the city and the ground.

The festival analyzes the idea of human and urban borders, how people live them and how they are modified in contemporary society. Every human being lives in a world in which the limits, the borders, shape their attitudes and behaviors, limiting the freedom and creating a sense of alienation. The man reacts breaking the limits and finding a new way of life. We imagine a world of “liquid cities“, where differences create new possibilities and exchange possibilities, instead of being social barriers.

The festival also aims to discover the interpretations of borders between built and unbuilt geographical contexts, the complex spatial mechanisms within contemporary cities and territories. The festival aims to understand these underlying cultural philosophical, political and aesthetic value systems that influence the production of architectural form. The investigation concerns not just territories’ borders: the festival focuses on the design and the construction strategies applied to the contemporary “skin and bones” architecture, on the thin surface that divides and connects the inner places with the outer spaces, from the single buildings to the huge metropolis’ borderline.

BORDERS consists of the Experimental Festival Exhibitions and the Venice Architecture Academy and 3 main events: “BODIES+CITIES SKIN” (May 28 – July 28, 2016); “FRAGMENTED IDENTITIES” (August 04 – September 29, 2016) and “FUTURE LANDSCAPES” (October 06 – November 27, 2016). During these main events, will be presented works of architecture, photography, painting, video art, installation/sculpture and performance art.

Artists, photographers and video/film makers are invited to present their works on the theme of borders, which develop and change people’s attitudes and actions for a better life. Architects and designers are invited to present their works on the theme of society’s and cities’ borders, for the sustainable development that minimizes the environment impact, making cities more smart, and generating a sense of possible lives and future on our planet.

Feel free to participate in one or more events and in the whole BORDERS festival for about 7 months. Submit all artworks (painting, sculpture, video art, photography, installation, performance) and design/architecture projects you desire, according to the main themes of the festival.
