FOMONO - OPEN CALL FOR ARTISTS

Soziale Medien und FOMO – die Angst etwas zu verpassen, bedingen einander. Die sogenannte Fear of missing out hält davon ab, mit anderen Menschen zu kommunizieren und das Gegenwärtige zu genießen. Der eigene Blick ist ständig auf das Smartphone gerichtet um etwas anzuschauen, zu liken oder zu posten. Es entwickelt sich das Gefühl nicht mehr hinterher zu kommen. Abgehängt zu werden. Nicht mitzubekommen was andere posten und Geschehnisse zu verpassen an denen man nicht teilhaben kann. Reale Begegnungen mit anderen Menschen gewinnen an Bedeutungslosigkeit im Vergleich zu dem was andere User in der digitalen Scheinwelt tun. Dargestellt in einer Fülle an Beiträgen im Internet.

Die Ausstellung FOMONO versammelt künstlerische Positionen die sich auf das Phänomen FOMO beziehen, sich damit auseinander setzen oder versuchen zu erörtern was zu tun ist um der ´Angst etwas zu verpassen` zu entkommen.

Social media and FOMO – are mutually dependent. The so-called fear of missing out keeps you away from communicating with other people and from enjoying the present. The own gaze is constantly directed to the smartphone to look at, to like or post something. You get the feeling that you can’t keep up. To be left behind. Not noticing what others are posting and missing out on events you can’t be a part of. Real encounters with other people are becoming insignificant compared to what other users seem to do in the digital world – shown in numerous articles on the Internet. The exhibition FOMONO presents artistic positions that relate to the phenomenon FOMO, deal with it or try to discuss what needs to be done to escape the ‚fear of missing out‘.
